Postulancy— 1 year period This is a period of more intense discernment for the candidate. She lives with the community, she partakes in much of the life of the community. She spends time every day learning more about her faith, more about religious life. She is assisted by the community in reflecting on what God wants from her life. Novitiate— 2 year period Time of continued discernment and more intense spiritual growth. The candidate continues her life with the community but intensifies her prayer life and her study of spiritual and religious life. Yearly Vows— 5 year period This is a time of the first commitment to God and the community. This is still a time of discernment with a emphasis Is on ministry discernment and development. With the community, she will discern what gifts God has blessed her with and how these can be put in the service of the community and the Church. Perpetual Vows The woman dedicates her life forever to God and her community. She and her community are bound in love to grow always toward total love of God and neighbor. On Going Formation This stage lasts for the rest of her life, for she is always being transformed into Christ. There will be many opportunities provided for her to grow in her love for God and her neighbor. |
